The Auckland Council is developing a Unitary Plan for Auckland. The Unitary Plan will be Auckland Council’s rule book for how we use and develop our natural and built environment.
The Unitary Plan will outline where homes and businesses can be built and conditions applying to certain areas. The Unitary Plan will eventually replace the Regional Policy Statement, regional plans, and all district plans. Council will release a discussion draft of the
Unitary Plan for public comment in March 2013. It is likely that a Proposed Unitary Plan would be formally released for statutory consultation in September 2013.
